The Battle of the Books competition, hosted by the Yorba Linda Public Library, was held today at the Lakeview Elementary School. The 307 competitors were judged in three grade categories: 4-6, 6-8 and 9-12. Each team consisted of 3-5 individuals representing many of our elementary schools and home-schooled students.
Each student team was responsible for reading 20 pre-designated books. During the competition, the students were asked a variety of questions regarding the content of a book. For example: identifying a particular quote, clothing worn by a character or a specific plots. The team had to identify the name of the book and the author. The competition was an elimination event and was grueling. The rounds lasted about 10 minutes and the team that won the round would move to the next level of competition.
All of the students did a great job! This was a tough competition with a narrow margin of points between all the teams. Congratulations!!
