During the election season, candidates will place their signs throughout the community. It is important for everyone to understand that it is not only unfair and unethical to move, remove, damage or alter a candidates’ sign, it is illegal.
Mayor John Anderson recently accused my husband and I of removing his signs. We have not and will not touch a candidates sign without their permission. I have also asked my supporters to refrain from this activity.
I expect Mayor Anderson to use better judgment than to erroneously accuse someone without proof.
Our neighbor found the following note posted below our garage sale sign this past Saturday and brought it to our attention.

I agree with what you say about campaign signs with the exception of signs placed on private property without permission of the owner. Our house has frontage on Yorba Linda Boulevard and each election season I remove 6 to 12 signs posted on our property without my permission.

You are absolutely correct. Hopefully everyone asks permission from homeowners before posting their signs on the property.
The other pet peeve about signs rears its ugly head after the election: they are left cluttering the roadside for months (not your signs, Jan, and I thank you for that). Those candidates obviously have no respect for our community and should not hold any kind of office, much less City Council. At what point after the election may we discard those signs littering our roadsides without being accused of stealing, or destruction of property, or some other crime?
I have returned from my extended out-of-state travel, and removed 7 signs posted on my property without my permission.
Jan, you have my permission to place your signs on my Yorba Linda Boulevard frontage, extending from Summit Drive westward to the bougainvilla plants growing over the wall.
