The Adopt a Military Family Christmas Project
If you haven’t had the opportunity to be a part of the “Adopting a Military Family for Christmas”, you may do so this year.
We instituted this project five years ago when we learned our military families were having severe financial struggles. We are also very cognizant for the financial hardships many around us have suffered, but if you’d like to help out, please contact us.
Between the Army and the Marines, we have 13 families, with more waiting if we receive adequate donations to share with them.
Out of the 13 families we’ve adopted this year, here a few examples of some of their situations; One soldier whose wife delivered prematurely in April was hit and killed by a car, while crossing the street, he has no family; another soldier has a 2 ½ year old with a baby due in January. His wife is having many complications, she wanted to know if they could have a cooked meal for their Christmas dinner; one of the Marines mom passed away leaving him a young teenage brother and sister to raise, they already had 4 children of their own; another Marine has a brain tumor, his wife had to quit her job to care for him and their 2 ½ year old. This is just a short synopsis of what many of our military families deal with on a daily basis.
All of them have asked for food.
We are very pleased and honored to announce that The Diamond Bar Country Estates Homeowners Association and Ruths Chris Steak House in Anaheim have partnered with us this year to assist some of our military families for Christmas. We thank them and are truly grateful for their support.
Each family member will have (4) tags on the tree. You may also make a donation to, For Families of Active Military to assist with food and gas cards we provide each family (we now accept credit cards).
Please have the unwrapped gifts returned to the clubhouse or my home by December 13th. We wrap the 14th and deliver on the 15th. If you need assistance delivering your gifts to either place, please give Bridget Blehm a call: 714-403-7165
Gifting Through Your Hostess
This was started 5 years ago by one of our homeowners, Peggy Ezell, when she read what we were doing for our military families for Christmas. As she addressed her party invitations, in lieu of a hostess gift she asked her guests to bring an unwrapped toy or gift (for the mom & dads) to her party. We thank her for initiative; this has become a very successful event.
Whether you choose to support the military through our organization or another church or charity you’re involved with, this is a fabulous idea.
On behalf of our military men, women and their families, thank you for your generosity, support & prayers!
Happy Thanksgiving to you all!

HI Jan,
Not sure what clubhouse you are speaking about or what tags on what tree.
I would like to make a donation but need more information.
Thank you,
Judy Marino
Please let me know how my family can best contribute this year.
I am forwarding both of your email addresses to Bridget Blehm, the executive Director of this organization. She will contact you soon~ Thanks so very much for helping with this amazing organization.
The clubhouse is the East Lake clubhouse.
I would like to start an “Adopt a Family” type of project up in my area but am looking for some direction as to how to go about finding Military Families in need. I am a member of the Palatine Jaycees and have gotten the approval to get this project together for this up and coming Christmas but am finding it hard to find Military Families in my area. Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.
I’m am interested in the Adopt a Military Family project here in Yorba Linda. Do you have any information for this year, 2011?
Thanks,
Marie
