Congratulations to Dorothy Wallingsford, Yorba Linda Citizen of the Year!
Dorothy Wallingsford and her family moved to Yorba Linda in 1964 from La Habra where she had been active in the La Habra PTA and Cub Scouts.  Throughout the 1970’s she donated most of her spare time to the Red Cross organizing the Yorba Linda Blood Bank and to the Meal on Wheels Program.  In 1974, Ms. Wallingsford helped to organize the Yorba Linda Senior Citizens Club and was elected their Vice President.  In 1977, the Yorba Linda Chamber of Commerce awarded her with the Woman of the Year Award.
As an active member of the Yorba Linda Historical Society, Dorothy Wallingsford has played an important role in the creation and operation of the Susanna Bixby Bryant Ranch Museum. In addition to raising funds for the Museum, she has worked as a docent giving guided tours to visitors.

  • Town Center Investigation: The Council has been discussing the events that occurred the last time our Town Center Project was attempted. My goal has always been about the process in making sure the community has maximal opportunity to give input along the way, in a safe environment driven by the residents and not by an over-zealous developer. The original “Request For Proposal”  went out to hire a  private investigator to look at the records, talk to parties involved and determine what went wrong, why and allow us to remedy the situation. I along with four Council members thought this approach was too encompassing and could easily become a “witch hunt” without accomplishing our goal. At the last Council meeting, it was decided the new interim City Manager would do an administrative review of the process and make recommendations to the Council on how to proceed. The goal is to narrow the focus of the review to very specific questions, allow outside agencies to determine if wrong-doing occurred and develop procedures to help prevent the same things from occurring again. I believe this approach will ultimately get to our stated goal without creating a caustic environment for our City staff and community, reduce the financial liability to our community and give clear understanding of roles while we go forward with our current attempt at developing our Town Center. It is time to move forward in a positive direction and ensure a successful project that we can all enjoy!

Congratulations and Thank You to our Engineering Department !!!
