The class of 2013 of the Yorba Linda chapter of National Charity League is hosting the 17th annual Fashion Show, Luncheon, and Auction: “California Girls…Dreamin’ of a Cure” for the benefit of the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.  The Fashion Show will take place on Sunday, February 26, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at the Disneyland Hotel and will include a silent auction, opportunity drawings, surprise packages and a grand-prize drawing.  The public is welcome and is encouraged to attend. Tickets are $75 which includes parking, and must be purchased prior to the event.

National Charity League, Inc (NCL) is a non-profit national organization of mothers and daughters dedicated to serving their communities and fostering the mother-daughter relationship.  The mothers and daughters participate in a six-year program (grades seven through twelve), working together as they assist various local philanthropies, participate in educational and leadership activities, and attend a variety of cultural events.  The Yorba Linda chapter (the Chapter) was founded in 1990 and consists of Yorba Linda residents and students attending schools in the Placentia-Yorba Linda School District.

Each year, the mothers and daughters from the Chapter’s junior class host a fashion show and fundraiser to benefit one of the many philanthropies with which the Chapter works.  This year, the class has chosen the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) as the beneficiary in hopes of making a difference in the lives of those afflicted by this life-threatening disease.  CFF is the world’s leader in the search for a cure for cystic fibrosis.  A nonprofit, donor-supported organization, CFF does not receive any federal funding for its work.  The Foundation’s focus is to support the development of new drugs, improve the quality of life for those with CF, and ultimately to find a cure.

NCL’s fashion show will be produced by James Campbell Productions, a top-tier, Los Angeles-based fashion show production company.  The models will be the 23 girls of the NCL Class of 2013, all juniors at local high schools including Yorba Linda High School, El Dorado High School, Esperanza High School, Lutheran High School of Orange County, Rosary High School, Santa Margarita Catholic High School, and Whittier Christian High School.

Yorba Linda High School Baseball is excited to announce the second YLHS Baseball Golf Tournament Fundraiser. This year’s event once again will take place at Yorba Linda Country Club. Yorba Linda Country Club. Tournament fees will include green fees, golf cart, range balls, sponsored lunch, delicious served dinner, celebrity speakers and prizes.
Again, we will have significant items available for auction, items you won’t see at any other fundraiser golf tournament. Guest speakers from professional and college baseball will be there. I realize that some of you don’t play golf or your work schedule doesn’t allow you to attend, but you can still help by contributing in a variety of ways. YLHS Baseball would appreciate it if you would sponsor a tee or a green for $150. Your Sponsorship sign indicating your donation to YLHS Mustang Baseball will be place at tees on the course. We will also put your company advertisement in the YLHS baseball 2012 program. You will also receive a 2012 team picture / calendar for any donation of $150 or more. If we can get every tee and green sponsored, that would put $5400 into our fundraising account.
You can also help by your donation of gift baskets, certificates for restaurants, gas stations, hair salons, Angels or Dodgers game tickets, golf clubs, possibly a foursome at your golf course, or any type of donation of goods or products that we can use for our auction/drawing. You may also donate tournament fees if you can’t play.
Every cent that we make on our fundraising goes directly back to our players. The JV field was built last year and the Varsity field has recently been completed. With the completion of the fields, brings the need to service and maintain those fields. Equipment (tractor, drags, batting cage equipment and turf, outfield scoreboard, etc.) is needed since the school district can not supply all the items needed to support the program. We would also like to outfit our kids in top of the line equipment such as shoes, bats, and apparel. We have done a great deal of work to build and upgrade the baseball fields at YLHS, which is one of the top high school baseball fields in Southern California. Our goal is to create an environment where our kids can feel pride in their “home” fields and other schools will want to come and play at YLHS.
Your help is desperately needed and we hope that you can contribute to our cause and also have a fun day at a great facility surrounded by the great YLHS Mustang baseball family.

School Board to Re-Consider High School Boundaries

The February 24 Board of Education Meeting will start at 6 p.m. and will be held at Valencia High School Auditorium, 500 N. Bradford in Placentia.
On February 10, the Placentia-Yorba Linda Unified School District Board of Education took action to approve new high school boundaries.
Following a review of this matter, it was determined that the specific plan approved by the Board was not reflected in the posted agenda as specified in the Brown Act.
Thus, the Board of Education will take new action and adopt high school boundary adjustments for the district commencing in the 2009-2010 school year. The action will be taken at the February 24 meeting which starts at 6 p.m. and will be held at Valencia High School Auditorium, 500 N. Bradford in Placentia.
